Tattoo shop moves to downtown Columbus offering tattoos, art and fashion

A new business is now open in downtown Columbus, and it’s not a restaurant.

C Davis Tattoo Studio is now open in a new location at 1234 Broadway, bringing tattoos, art and fashion to the public.

Melissa Moore, co-owner of C Davis Tattoo Studio, said the business had maxed out its space with how many artists they had at its Veterans Parkway location.

Moore said the business had to get a special exception ordinance and go through multiple Columbus City Council meetings to get approval to move to the new location.

“It took a little bit of time, lot of red tape, but finally we got here and very excited to be here,” Moore said.

There are five different tattoo artists on staff who specialize in various tattoo styles such as realism, anime, fine line, American traditional and permanent makeup.

Moore said the business had its soft opening on Nov. 29 followed by their grand opening on Nov. 30.

The shop is also selling clothing from brands such as Tattoo Golf, Cartel Ink and its own C Davis branded merchandise. The shop takes art seriously and even features the artwork of one of its artists on the wall. The shop will start taking consignments from local artists as well.

Cody Davis is a tattoo artist and co-owner of C Davis Tattoo Studio. Davis’ artwork hangs from the walls in the studio and features human elements with vibrant colors. One piece in particular shows Atlanta Braves pitcher Spencer Strider throwing a pitch with a blurred crowd in the background.

Davis said he’s happy for the opportunity to have the studio on Broadway.

Davis said his goal with the business is to bring a more inviting place with “new school” tattooing that’s a studio for the everyday person.

When asked why he wanted to become a tattoo artist, Davis said he dabbles in paintings and drawings and sees tattooing as another medium.

“When I got into tattooing, at the beginning, this was like my ultimate goal was to get to this point. So, I’m feeling good,” Davis said about the tattoo studio.
